Lamothe-Bergeron Vintage 2006

Sunny weather beginning in April and very little rain in the following months helped get the season off to a good start. By August, the grapes were already developing sweet flavors and promising aromas.

Progress reports on the grapes' maturity and vineyard samples taken during September confirmed that 2006 would be a difficult year for the vines which suffered from a series of heat waves in early summer and water stress due to prolonged periods of drought. However, the grapes remained in good condition and the Merlot quickly attained a high level of maturity on the hot and filtering sandy gravel of Cussac's terroir.

Harvesting started September 18 and finished October 4.

The Cabernet Sauvignon's level of phenolic compound has reached a level seldom attained on the estate.

2006 promises to be a pleasant vintage with ripe, soft tannins.

Blending: 40% Merlot & 60% Cabernet Sauvignon
