Drappier Champagne
Champagne Drappier is a family-owned company whose beginnings in Champagne production go back to 1808, when Clairvaux Abbey's 12th Century cellars were purchased.
Two hundred years later, André and his Beaune-trained son Michel, have established their marque as one of the few great Aubois Champagnes. Today, these award-winning wines are sourced from the family's estate of 40 ha, mainly located on the chalky South-facing slopes outside Urville planted with up to 9000 vines per ha.
A distinctive family resemblance is evident throughout the range: great depth of flavour and richness, derived from the high proportions of Aube Pinot Noir, and a balance of ripe fruit and biscuity maturity. The latter comes partly from the terroir which gives quite forward wines, and partly as a result of Michel's wine-making regime, which accentuates the development of this process.
